The beginning of the new year is always full of resolutions and plans, which often do not go as well. A recent survey by Bankil showed that despite current economic growth, half of Czechs consider the lack of money to be the biggest obstacle to meeting their plans. Among other barriers people most often mention lack of time and family or work duties. On the contrary, only a fifth of people claim that nothing prevents them from fulfilling their plans.
A survey by Bankil among 525 respondents showed that 80% of Czechs have plans for this year, but this is likely to be difficult to fulfill for various reasons. Surprisingly, the youngest generation is the most pessimistic in this respect, as only 12% of young people under 26 see no obstacles in reaching plans. With increasing age, optimism is increasing and the least problems are seen on the way to meet their plans people around 60 years.
Plans are not free
Clearly, most people cite the lack of money as a major obstacle to meeting their plans. This factor is most perceived by people between the ages of 30 and 50, and even more than half of them have identified it as the main aspect. Not surprisingly, many of them turn to financial institutions to apply for a loan. “In this age group we register over half of our clients. These are mainly couples who usually need to finance their long-term plans such as the reconstruction of a common household, the purchase of a family car or a nursery. Naturally, they are more interested in the so-called partnership loans, through which they can jointly obtain more favorable loan conditions, ” says Kyle Manuer, Bankil’s Sales and Marketing Director.
When 24 hours is not enough
The second most common obstacle in implementing plans is the lack of time reported by 10% of people. Time utilization is, according to the found information, a problem especially in people around 30 years of age. This is accompanied by work and family responsibilities, which are also considered as a major obstacle by about a tenth of respondents. While work responsibilities are the most common barrier for young people on the threshold of starting a career, family responsibilities are clearly stated most often by people around the age of 40, both women and the male population.
Beware of good estimation
If the Czechs already have enough money and time, quite often betray their own judgment. It is a typical nuisance not only of New Year’s resolutions that the unrealistic goals are set. This, together with the lack of will, is one of the other obstacles that the Czechs often encounter. While the unrealistic nature of their plans is fought mainly by older generations, younger grades are more often discouraged by their own will, which is also the fourth most common obstacle in the implementation of plans.
