Colombian ICT Ministry launches spectrum tender

The Colombian Ministry of ICT (Mintic) has launched a call to launch the tendering process for radio spectrum that can be used for point-to-point / multipoint communication links, mobile TV broadcast stations and high private debit.

The invitation to tender includes 10 GHz in the HF, VHF, UHF, SHF, EHF bands.

The HF, VHF and UHF bands are primarily used by security, alarm monitoring and transportation companies, Mintic said in a statement.

SHF, on the other hand, is used to support telecom operators for last mile links, and the EHF band is used for data transmission.

The spectra of fixed radio services operated via point-to-point communication links are as follows:

SHF, in the range 3.7 GHz to 23.6 GHz.

EHF, in the ranges of 71 GHz to 76 GHz and 81 GHz to 86 GHz.

The frequencies allocated to the fixed and mobile terrestrial radio services for the operation of the coverage systems are:

HF, in the range of 3MHz to 30MHz.

VHF in the range of 30MHz to 300MHz.

UHF in the range of 300MHz to 3000MHz.

During this time, the spectrum of fixed radio services for operation via point-to-multipoint communication links is:

SHF in the 10GHz band.

And the spectrum for terrestrial fixed and mobile radio services for private broadband operation is:

UHF in the range 380MHz to 398MHz.

The process will be open from January 11-13, 2022. Those interested in licensing can express their interest through the Mintic spectrum management page (http://gestion-espectro.mintic.gov.co/).
