Danville Yoga Studio to Host Summer Solstice Event

DANVILLE, CA —YogaSix is ready to celebrate the summer solstice and International Yoga Day with the Danville community.

The studio will host a Summer Love Party and Yoga Open House from June 17-19.

“The change of seasons that comes with the summer solstice is a time of transformation and new beginnings,” said owner Marybeth Thomson. “It is also an opportunity to take stock and review intentions made at the New Year. Yoga can support this process of transformation by including practices that create warmth in the body and strengthen our inner strength.”

Free classes will be offered throughout the weekend as well as a chance to support other local businesses.

“On the 18th, featured local businesses will join in the festivities including: Goat Racer Coffee and Danville Brewing, as well as mini wellness sessions to experience Reiki healing, hypnotherapy, Ayurvedic pulse readings and consultations with Ayutherapy, Sound Bath demonstrations and chair massages from Cantrell Chiropractic,” said Thomson.

The word sun salutation comes from the Sanskrit word Surya meaning “sun” and Namaskara meaning “to bow before,” Thomson told Patch.

“Sun salutations were used in morning rituals to receive healing energy from the sun,” she said. “Over time, they have evolved into a key part of condition the body and calm the mindhelping yogis disconnect from the pressures of modern everyday life.”
