Resident doctors at the center-run Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Safdarjung Hospital and Lady Hardinge Hospital in Delhi will boycott all routine and emergency services from tomorrow in support of a national demonstration called by the Federation of Resident Doctors Associations (FORDA) against the delay in the NEET-PG 2021 council.

In a letter to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, FORDA said health facilities across the country lacked sufficient numbers of resident doctors, with no admission for the current academic year.

“With the possibility of a future pandemic wave of Covid looming, the situation will be dire for the health sector with its impact on the population of the country,” he said.

“It appears that no initiative or measure has yet been taken to accelerate the council (NEET-PG). Therefore, following discussions with various representatives of the Delhi GDR, we have decided to further step up our unrest and withdraw all services (routine and emergency) in health facilities from Monday, “the letter said.

In a statement to the hospital administration, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RML) RDA said medical residents across the country have been protesting peacefully for nearly a week now due to the delay in NEET advice -PG and the admission of first-year junior residents to various hospitals.

The GDR had suspended outpatient services from November 27 and routine services from December 3.

“However, we are sorry to inform you that we have not received any positive response or concrete action from the Union Health Ministry and the authorities concerned,” he said.

Similar letters were also written by the RDAs of Safdarjung and Lady Hardinge hospitals.

In its letter to the medical director, the RDA of Safdarjung hospital indicated that it carried out a symbolic protest silently after a meeting with the Union Minister of Health on November 27, “while respecting the verbal assurance given by this one “.

“However, in accordance with the notification issued on November 30, the Department of Social Justice requested a three-week deadline to submit its report to the Supreme Court, which is inconsistent with the verbal assurance given to us. data concerning the acceleration of this process, “It said.

“Due to the non-responsiveness and indifference of the government and the authorities concerned, we unfortunately have no choice but to boycott the emergency services from Monday. The authorities concerned,” said the GDR.
